supermarkets near oranienburgerstr?

im staying in oranienburgerstr and was wondering if there were some cheap supermarkets nearby?

The big discounters in Germany (e.g. Aldi, Lidl, Plus, ...) have in bigger cities a branch always around the corner. Or maybe the overnext one. Considering the length of this street, it is also the question from where exactly. On their homepages the discounters have branch locators. Or just ask a local (e.g. staff in the ho(s)tel, a bar etc.).

Edeka Supermarkets inside Friedrichstraße Train Station (open Mo-Su) and at Rosenthaler Strasse 43-45 (close to Hackescher Markt S-Bahn Station). Kaiser%26#39;s Supermarket at Karl-Liebknecht-Str. 13 (opposite to Alexanderplatz Train Station / TV Tower). Department store Galeria Kaufhof at Alexanderplatz has food court.

As you%26#39;ll realise from Berlin112%26#39;s reply the area isn%26#39;t well provided with supermarkets (too many restaurants and art galleries!) as we discovered when we were in an apartment nearby on Novalisstrasse.

If your apartment is at Friedrichstrasse end of the street you may find it useful to know we used a small supermarket on Torstrasse. There was a baker%26#39;s near junction of Chausseestrasse too. Juices and biscuits from Schlecker on Friedrichstrasse (basically a place for toiletries etc).

My son reminded me we also used a Spar on Friedrichstrasse just below Torstrasse which was cheaper than Torstrasse Turkish supermarket. As you arein that area, also worth knowing; one evening we bought a spit-roast chicken from a place a bit further along Torstrasse (theyalso did falefel).
