Is there a typo in this name? Doesn%26#39;t sound German too me. Esp. the %26quot;mbd%26quot; letter combination is not pronouncable in German at all. Either typo or missing vocals. Or not German. Danish minority in Schleswig-Holstein?

the common German equivalent is

-mann

This was however in not few cases changed to -man when people emmigrated to the US. But such name changes were more common in the times before your father emmigrated.

Spelling now is correct. Appears originally the name did have an extra (n) on the end. Documents indicate my grandparents were born in Landkirchen or Landkiechen - two different spelling.

Well, it%26#39;s almost a year later and my brother %26amp; I are looking at visiting the area next summer. I am mostly looking for basic accomocations with access to a few pubs. If anyone has suggestions I would be most appreciative. Thanks, David.
