Swissotel - location

I am staying at the Swissotel in Berlin over New Year. The hotel looks nice, but I just wondered abot the location.... Can anyone tell me how much of a walk it is from, say, the Brandenberg Gate? Is it within walking distance of the tourist sites?

Thanks

I is near Kurfürstendamm, a nice boulevard and the centre of former West-Berlin. It%26#39;s location is great, but a bit far from the attraction of the district of Mitte, where the Brandenburg Gate and many other attractions are located. You will need to take public transportation.

No. Such a location does not really exist in Berlin.

You can walk to more or less tourist sites. But for others you take better public transport. And for this the Swissotel is at a perfect location.

Stayed as well at the Swissotel in March. Nice hotel, clean but the rooms are rather small. The hotel is just a few steps off Kurfuestendam (spelling?), can%26#39;t get much better than that location-wise. If I remember from previous stays, the Brandenburg Gate is a bit further away, and you have to take the Underground. In the same area you will as well find their Houses of Parliament and there are some nice cozy restaurants as well.

One of the places you should definitely see is the Jewish Museum. Very impressive and touching.

Have a fabulous time. We loved the hotel. It isn%26#39;t really walking distance to Brandenburg Gate unless you really like walking. I think the map showed it as the other side of the massive city park.

Just outside the hotel is the starting point for all the hop on-hop off bus tours. I know they can be a bit conformist but we were only there the weekend and we did one of them on the Saturday. It stops at Brandenburg Gate (and loads of other places) and we stopped there to take photos and things. It was 20 Euros and you see everything and can get off and back on whenever you want.
