Another airport to... question (and more)

We will be in town for 6 days in early April and are not planning to rent a car.

1) is there a multi-day (6) pass that can be purchased for public transit that will get me to / from the airport and allow me to visit Cologne and the immediate surroundings? If not, what are my best options?

2) What is the fastest way by public transit from the airport to the Marriot Renaissance hotel?

3) Is it a nice hotel?

4) Where can I find info on %26quot;value%26quot; restaurants in the area? Don%26#39;t let the fact I booked at the Renaissance fool you - I got a good deal on some well known bid for travel site... a four star hotel for the price of a two star.

5) Is there some little grocery store in the vicinity? A bakery also (our breakfast is not included)?

Thanks / Danke

1) Not really. There is only a weekly ticket valid a calendar week (Mo 00:00 till Tu 03:00 next week).

Prices depend on the number of zones you want to travel in.

For Cologne itself you need tickes price level 1b.

From Cologne to Bonn price level 4.

From Cologne to Düsseldorf price level 5ü.

Single ticket is EUR 2,20. These tickets cover the S-Bahn or RE trains from the airport to Hauptbahnhof and the tram (STR) for the rest.

Far distance trains like ICE are not covered.

5) Your hotel is quite central.

There are for sure some grocery stores and bakeries around the corner.

1) The Cologne Welcomecard gives free ride on all means of public transport in the Cologne-Bonn area. (VRS linked transport-system)

2) S 13 (direction Hansaring) from airport-station to Cologne main-station. Change for U/tram No. 5 (direction Ossendorf) and get off at stop Friesenplatz.

3) Yes

4) You%26#39;ll find restaurants, pups etc. at every turn. German restaurants too need to display their menu-card at the outside, so you can make your choice very easily .

5) Wherever you go.
