I stayed at the Hotel Berlin last year and would highly recommend it. The hotel is located on the edge of the Tiergarten and is a ten to fifteen minute walk from the major shopping area around Breitscheidplatz, Tauentzienstraße and Kurfürstendamm and the mainline railway station and U-/S-Bahn stations at Zoologischer Garten.
The room was spacious and spotlessly clean and had a sizeable bathroom. I was very impressed also with the hotel%26#39;s security system. The only way up to the floors containing the rooms is by lift, which can only be called by entering a room key (electronic card); thereby allowing only guests to go above the ground floor of the hotel.
The one thing I did find disappointing was the price of breakfast. As I recall it was quite a colossal amount of money for what was essentially bread rolls, ham and cheese. Not that that really caused any discomfort; there are many cafés nearby.
TOP TIP: I recommend the Mumtaz Indian café/restaurant at the corner of Kurfürstenstraße/Bayreuther Straße (between Hotel Berlin and Zoologischer Garten). The food is extremely good value for money and tastes delicious!
