train travel help from and around Munich..please

I%26#39;m try to plan a trip for our anniversary in Munich and I have a few questions:

1. Can you use a credit card to purchase rail tickets?

2. What is the rail station name for the Munich airport?

3. What station do we get off for the Mandarin Oriental?

1. Yes.

But you won%26#39;t need a rail ticket to travel to Munich, but a local public transport ticket. You can only buy rail tickets to destinations outside of the Greater Munich Area.

1.1. DB train tickets by credit card

a) counter: yes

b) red/grey DB ticket machines: yes

1.2. MVV local public transport tickets by credit card

ONLY the MVV ticket machines at the airport will accept credit cards.

What you%26#39;ll need is a MVV partner day ticket for all zones (complete MVV network). EUR 17,00.

As a single ticket is EUR 8,80 this mini group ticket (2-5 persons) makes already sense with 2 persons.

It is valid from the time of purchase till 6am next day. Covered is all local public transport: regional trains (RB, RE), S-Bahn, U-Bahn, trams and buses.

3. München Marienplatz

is the closest S-Bahn stop to your hotel. Approx. 400 m.

Both S-Bahn lines serving the airport stop at Marienplatz, albeit they use different routes to reach central Munich. See the very first link I gave.

If you want to check travel times you can use the DB timetable (no prices, for this you would have to use the MVV timetable, but this one is a bit more complicated to handle).

Please not the correct spelling is (apart from Munich) München or Muenchen, but not Munchen. E.g. the official Munich website can be found at
