heading to Berlin from the 28th dec- 2nd jan. and wondering what the shop opening times are and whether tourist buses will be running and if many of the tourist attractions will be open or closed.thanks

Shops can now be open on weekdays 0:00 - 24:00. As this is brand new it will depend from shop to shop and street to street.
Su. 31. Dec. and Mo. 1. Jan (public holiday) shops stay closed (with a few exceptions).
%26gt; tourist buses
Will run. But I would recommend to use one of the walking tours instead.
%26gt; tourist attractions
Most wil close early afternoon on NYE and open later than normal on New Years Day.
%26gt; museums
See above. But many museums are generally closed on Mondays (but e.g. the 3 most visited not).

As abalada already said due to the changes in the shop opening laws shops can almost open whenever they want. Shops will be still closed on bank holidays which will be in your case the 1st January. The shop opening hours on 31st December will be limited as it is Sunday. Anyway, you can say that most shops will stay open until 8pm from Monday till Saturday, the bigger shops and malls will probably be open until around 10pm. It%26#39;s all very indivudual so expect to come across shops (especially the smaller ones) who might even close earlier than 8pm as well.
The tourist busses in general will be running and most attractions will be open. There might be limited hours on 31st December and 1st January.
