Winter in Munich (Feb 8th-17th)?

I am picking up a BMW for european delivery in Munich and planning a tour of europe but worried about the snow. How would you go about planning a trip. I am planning to do Munich, salzburg vienna, prague. Are all these snow burdened countries or are they doable?

Make sure the beamer has winter tyres. You can plan a tour but you must be prepared to change plans should the snow hit badly which can be the case for all of the places mentioned (esp. Munich and Salzburg). WIth dry and/or warmer weather it should be ok, the larger roads are usually clear, but there%26#39;s no way of predicting the snowfall.

Hi there,

I agree with the previous poster. Winter tyres are a must - the car will be delivered with normal-summer-tyres - so please arrange for a change of them asap. You can store the summer stuff in the tyre shop and pick them up after your trip again.

Prague will be kind of an adventure - I do not recommend to visit this city, although it is beautiful and stunning, for several reasons:

- car theft (you´ve got a new car!)

- cobble stoned streets and bad streets (in winter with snow...)

- long way to drive

- language (in case of emergency it could be more difficult)

Choose Nuremberg and Regensburg instead. www.nuernberg.de or www.regensburg.de

Munich, Salzburg and Vienna are a good choice.

Heavy snow fall can come very sudden and if so, don´t be a hero and drive long distances. Ask the hotel staff about the radio announcements in that case. If the roads are blocked, don´t even think about going onto the Autobahn.

Have fun, take care!

So far this winter is a no-show. But this can change. Driving between this places is however no problem. Only in an (unlikely) case of a snow storm it%26#39;s better not to drive.

No rental car company in Germany will allow you to travel with one of their BMWs to Prague. Going there with a new and expensive car is nothing I can recommend. My boss was once also flying back from Prague - unplanned.

And apart from this, the old city centre of Prague is anyway not car friendly at all. If you like to go there use the train (e.g. from Regensburg).
