Romantic Road and Black Forest

We are planning on a trip for 2 weeks - start and finish in Frankfurt - here is what we have thus far

Frankfurt to St. Gore (stay in St. Gore)

St. Gore to Freiburg (stay in Freiburg)

Freiburg to Reutt (stay in Reutt)

Reutt to Munich

Munich to Rothenburg (or Dinkelsbuhl) (stay here Rothen/Dinkel)

and then back to Frankfurt

Can anyone suggest other iterinaries and also help me with a choice of train/bus vs. car? (got a 4 yr. old with us too btw)

Thanks

With a 4-yeaqr old, I suggest you take a car. Willgive youmore flexibility, and a train get pretty qweaqry for the chiled (and the parents) pretty fast. Besides, i9f you stay in Reutte (p[rtesumably to see the castles) a car is almost a %26quot;must%26quot;.

Frankfurt to St. Goar, OK

St. Goar to Freiburg, that%26#39;s a pretty long trip for a 4-year old. Why Freiburg? Presumably you want to see the Black Forest. In my opinion, with all the recent environmental damage to the BF, I think it is overrated. Why not St. Goar - Heidelberg?

Then, Heidelberg, along the Neckar (Castle Route) to the tey Autobahn A-6 near Heilbronn. Autobahn A-6 to Autobahn A-7 and south on to Reutte.

After4 Reutte, A-7 north to Rothenburg, but get off the Autobahn near Dinkelsbuehl and follow the smaller roads to Rothenburg.

Spend the night in R. or go on to Wuerzburg and spend the night there. Visit castle and downtown palace (Residenz) and gardens. The little one will enjoy running in the gardens. Turn car in in Wzbg. and take train to FRA airport. That%26#39;%26#39;s a short train ride the child will enjoy.

Treplow .. thank you for the suggestions. Question about distances .. how far is Heidelburg from St. Goar, how far is Frieburg from St. Goar?

Also ... we have visited Europe every year for the past 7+ years but this will be my first time driving - any tips? Any do%26#39;s %26amp; don%26#39;ts? Are there stretches where you would suggest we don%26#39;t drive but take the train instead?

Thanks
