%26gt;staying at the kempinski hotel,is this a good location for getting around the city to visit the watering holes.

No idea - it%26#39;s not my price category - but wherever it is you will need subways, trams and buses to get around. Berlin is very widespread.

%26gt;will we need taxis back at night or is it in walking distance.

Even if not in walking distance many tram and subway lines run through the night. You can of course take a taxi if you want, but for six people it will be hard to come by.

%26gt;anyone stayed here.how far are we from the airport,is there a bus service to and from the airport.

Which airport? Berlin has three.

%26gt;is berlin a dear city food and drink wise, taxi and getting about wise.

No, very cheap food and drink, never needed a taxi, getting about costs 5,80 Euro per day and person or 2,10 single.

%26gt;also is there a casino,

Don%26#39;t know about this, sorry. In any case you will enjoy Berlin.

if you can afford the Kempinski, then I wouldn%26#39;t worry about a few euros for a taxi across town, especially fare divided between a few of you.

Re hotel: Considering the average room rate of Kempinski Hotel Bristol (assume you mean that one and not the Adlon at Brandenburg Gate) and the rather mixed reviews in TA I would opt for another hotel.

If I were you I%26#39;d choose a place to stay in Mitte or Prenzlauer Berg.

For Berlin neighbourhoods check:

Arcotel Velvet at Oranienburger Straße (very good for drinking and dining right at your doorstep + most of pub crawls start here/ close by) and Park Inn Alexanderplatz (close to Hackescher Markt and Oranienburger Straße) have very good guest ratings and room rates are modest. Check reviews on TA hotel review section (be aware that shower has frosted glass which might be an issue for you. Airport Express trains from Schönefeld Airport stop at Alexanderplatz Station. Airport Express Bus TXL from Tegel Airport stop there, too.

If you are landing in Tegel the taxi fare to the hotel is about 14 euro so if you share it is not worth using public transport. Schoenfeld is much further out so take the train into town .

The hotel is fine for bars and restaurants but a lot of nightlife happens the other side of town in Mitte, public transport runs all night or a cab is prob. 10/12 euro

Berlin is fairly cheap for eating and drinking if you go to %26#39;normal%26#39; places if you eat drink in 5* hotels or fancy restaurants the prices obviously rocket up.

Enjoy yourselves

thanks trvlinfarn, bongoblog and berlin112.yes was going to stay at kempinski bristol but have seen some indifferant views about this hotel plus some bad pictures. so hotel is up in the air at the moment but thanks for the replys cheers gary

Check out the Intercontinental, they often have rates starting at 100 euro. I can recommend the hotel, i always stay there . Get rooms in east wing.

|||

We found a deal on lastminute.com at the Park Inn Berlin Alexanderplatz in Mitte. We%26#39;re paying £225 each for four nights in a double room including flights from Manchester. Thought you might be interested as there is a casino in the hotel. Also, it gets pretty good reviews here on Trip advisor. Pretty central location as well by the looks of it.

hi Halley

two airports, Tegel has just bus link - Sbahn and Bus from Schoenefeld. Depends where you are flying in to and whereabouts you are staying, dependant on that info I will gladly help you further, but there is so much and all so inexpensive I couldn%26#39;t possible even know where to start until I know which area you are sraying in etc.
