Read inside page on neighborhoods to find out more about the best area for you to stay:

tripadvisor.com/Travel-g187323-s204/Berlin:G…

I would recommend the area around Hackescher Markt and Oranienburger Strasse - many nice restaurants, bars and some nightlife as well as walking distance to all major sights!

I personally would recommend

Charlottenburg - around Savignyplatz

Schöneberg - around Winterfeldmarkt/Goltzstr.

Kreuzberg - around Bergmannstr.

Prenzlauer Berg - around Helmholtzplatz/Kollwitzplatz

All areas are central, you easily reach the sights in Mitte by public transport and offer nice bars and restaurants.

@ georgehammster

I personally think there isn%26#39;t an area which is unsuitable for children in Berlin

|||

I assumed , that to be the case , Im was concerned that walking around night, might not be suitable given the previous comments . Thanks you .

I also have another question - could you please direct me the ice hocket arena to see a game - The address mentions steffenstrade .

Berlin hasn%26#39;t really got really dangerous areas so you might find some areas where you should be a little bit cautious. Anyway, these are mainly in the outskirts and places tourists hardly get to. That said you should use your common sense like you would in any other big city. I have so far never experienced any problems getting around at night in Central Berlin

To get to Steffenstraße you could check out the journey planer on www.bvg.de (German and English). I don%26#39;t know from where you will get there but if you are coming from Central Berlin it might be the best way to take the S-Bahn to Landsberger Allee and from there the tram M5.

Hi Georgehamster and Rrichie

We travell to Berlin as often as we can to see family. As mentioned by others. Pretty much anywhere is safe in Berlin. In fact i feel safer there than i do here in Australia. We also take both of our children (5 yo %26amp; 3 yo) and we are always made to feel safe and welcome. As for where to stay??? I would recommend as close as you can to the centre if you want to see the sights etc. Mitte or Prenzlauer Berg are my favourites. And as for Pubs etc i would personally recommend Oranienburger Strasse. I am sure you will enjoy your stay in Berlin. It is one of my favourite cities in the world.
