Our hotel will not have internet or television, and I would like to bring a portable radio with us on our trip to Munich. Can you bring a regular AM/FM radio from the states? Is there any radio in English? We would like to get news and weather, etc.

Your radio will work fine. Not sure if AFN Munich (Armed Forces Network ) is still available throughout Germany, but if it is, it%26#39;s a great station. Otherwise, you will be able to pick some English language stations on AM, but obviously the reception won%26#39;t be the greatest.

AFN Munich closed in 1992, replaced by AFN Bavaria www.afneurope.net/Bavaria/article.asp…
The alternative is BBC World service and Voice of America, which requires a SW radio.
