Berlin at Easter - good time to visit?

Hi guys, a group of my friends and I are looking at giong to Berlin for Easter, but have heard that some other parts of Germany (i.e. Munich) close down over Easter - is it the same for Berlin? If so, we will go during one of the long weekends in May instead!

Shops are closed generally in Germany on Sundays and public holidays (Good Friday, Easter Monday).

Tourist/leisure related things stay open (e.g. restaurants, museums, other sights, ...). There will be actually more on offer or open on this aspect than on normal weekends.

Are there any %26quot;Easter Markets%26quot; or anything else special going on in Berlin in the week leading up to Easter.

(I arrive on Sunday April 1 and depart on Saturday april 7 the day before Easter)

Hi,

there are easter markets (Ostermärkte) but they are not really worth a visit. I know of one at Alexanderplatz... I%26#39;m pretty sure that there are more.

Some pictures of the easter market in 2003 (Alexanderplatz):
