Which pass makes more sense?

Ok. Please help with the calculations here...

What I need:

One long distance train (Berlin to Offenburg on the City Night Line) with accomodations in a 6-bed couchette.

Trains in and around Berlin (ABC) area. (Concentration Camp %26amp; Potsdam)

Some inner city transportation within Cologne, Heidelberg, %26amp; Koblenz.

Also, a K-D boat trip down the Rhine (preferably the Goethe)

We have a car so we will not be using the rail pass for any other city to city jumps.

OPTION 1-

4-day Twin Pass - $167

(Which of the things above AREN%26#39;T included? How much is the upgrade to a 6-couchette? Are there any other surcharges for using a railpass on the overnight train?)

OPTION 2-

This is the group rate I got for the 6-couchette overnight train ONLY $135

I know it sounds like a no brainer, but I need to justify my thougths to the 21 people that are going with me.

I guess my real questions are:

1. Does the Rail Pass get me onto the oovernight CNL train?

2. How much MORE do I need to pay to take that train (including getting a 6-berth room)

3. Does a rail pass include ABC Berlin?

4. Does a rail pass include Goethe?

5. Does a rail pass include any transportation WITHIN the cities I mentioned?

Thanks!!!

Trish

%26gt; One long distance train (Berlin to Offenburg on the City Night Line) with accomodations in a 6-bed couchette.

Try to get one of the cheap SparNight tickets.

http://www.citynightline.ch

%26gt; Trains in and around Berlin (ABC) area. (Concentration Camp %26amp; Potsdam)

Day ticket local public transport is

Berlin AB (= Berlin) EUR 5,80

Berlin ABC (= Berlin, Potsdam, Oranienburg) EUR 6,00

%26gt; Some inner city transportation within Cologne, Heidelberg, %26amp; Koblenz.

Again you can buy day ticket for local public transport. Or mini group day tickets.

http://www.vrsinfo.de (Cologne)

http://www.vrn.de (Heidelberg)

http://www.vrminfo.de (Koblenz)

%26gt; How much is the upgrade to a 6-couchette?

EUR 20,00

%26gt; Are there any other surcharges for using a railpass on the overnight train?)

Yes. See above at the column surcharges.

1+2 see above

%26gt; 3. Does a rail pass include ABC Berlin?

Yes and no. See 5.

%26gt; 4. Does a rail pass include Goethe?

A German Rail Pass or Eurail Rail Pass does. There is however a steam surcharge for the Goethe (EUR 1,50 pp).

%26gt; 5. Does a rail pass include any transportation WITHIN the cities I mentioned?

A rail pass covers trains only. Including local trains (RB, RE, IRE) and S-Bahn trains.

U-Bahn (subway), trams or buses are not covered.
