Nice Hotel or castle

We are travelling from Frankfurt to Munich and during the time celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary. We would like to stay in a very nice hotel or a castle? Any suggestions.

Also we have a week to drive between frankfurt and Munich hoping to drive the romantic road - any suggestions of where we should stay and see.

My favorite town in Germany is among the cities that are marketed as the Romantic Road: Würzburg. I has a baroque archbishop%26#39;s residence that my wife really likes and a castle (Marienberg Festung) that is more to my taste. There are two museums at the castle. The Mainfränkisches Museum is dedicated to the local region has a number of works by Riemenschneider. The walk up to the Käppele across the river has great views and the Stations of the Cross in statues.

Rothenburg is the most visited tourist stop along the Romantic Road and deservedly so to my tastes. It is a well preserved medieval walled city. It had the fortune and misfortune to be poor when much of Germany was tearing down its town walls and redoing its churches into baroque. Rothenburg was stuck with its looks from the middle ages.

Rothenburg and Würzburg have a wealth of hotels and restaurants. I am just too cheap to know about the quality of place that you are asking about.

Good luck and congratulations on 10 years.

Regards, Gary Mc

For a lovely hotel with close-up views from your bed of lit-up by night Neuschwanstein Castle try Villa Jaegerhaus in Hohenschwangau. The room one floor up in the middle on the east side is extremely nice and has a jacuzzi. All rooms have castle views, but some of nextdoor Hohenschwangau Castle (also lit-up at night) where the family actually lived and not Neuschwanstein. Besides this small hotel being excellent (things like chocolates on pillows at night), the restaurant in the associated hotel across the street is also excellent, and they do a lot of flaming food if that interests you. I can%26#39;t imagine a more romantic location! Click on my name and look at my review and that of others, and one person has also posted pictures of the hotel and the room two floors up in the NE corner which has views of both castles. The hotel is bookable at www.hohenschwangau.de which website also has other information about this village and the castles.

Trikist has mentioned the two other highlights of the Romantic Road, the Residence in Wuerzburg and Rothenburg ob der Tauber. For the latter, drive down to the river for a nice view of this magnificent walled town on the skyline.
