I%26#39;m looking for a cute, nice place to stay for one night. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Moderately priced if possible.
Thanks for suggestions.

What about a family room (4 beds, normally with WC/shower ensuite) in a youth hostel in a castle?
Burg Diez
diejugendherbergen.de/cms/front_content.php…
close to the A3 near Limburg

Burg Breuberg

-%26gt; Jugendherberge
A3 exit Wertheim - Main valley - Breuberg - A3 exit Stockstadt

Most direct route from Würzburg to Cologne is the autobahn A3.

Thank you Abalada for your suggestion of the youth hostel castle. It sounds fun. I have not found much information about it in my research,..but I went ahead and booked it. Hopefully it will be comfortable and interesting. I will have to write a review when I return!

If you want something a bit less spartan than a Jugendherberge (youth hostel) then check out Miltenberg. This is an old town on the Main river, with castle. You get there by getting off the A-3 Autobahn (Frankfurt -Wuerzburg) at the Stockstadt exit and head along the Main to Miltenberg.
We stayed at the Jagdhotel Rose (no elevators!), but there are many less expensive places as well.
On the next day, head toward Wuerzburg either by going along the Main river to Wertheim, or heading toward the A-3 by way of Mespelbrunn. (you have to look that up on a road map; too hard to to give you detailed directions. ) It%26#39;s sort of northeast of Miltenberg. This is a Wasserschloos, a castle partially in a lake. It%26#39;s very pretty, and the road to it and from there to Wzbg. will take you through the Spessart region, a hillyy countryside.

Which one did you book? Diez? It%26#39;s rather in the mid of this route.
Miltenberg + Spessart is something you could do easily as a day trip from Würzburg.
And Burg Diez is comfortable and interesting. Nothing one could call %26quot;spartan%26quot;. I%26#39;m looking forward to your review.
