Family Hotel in Central Munich

Does anyone know of a hotel in Munich with family/suite rooms that is centrally located? Preferably near the Marienplatz or Englischer Garten. We will be visiting with 3 children (ages 3, 7 %26amp; 10) in May and we%26#39;re having a terrible time finding accommodations for 5. Many places seem to have only quad rooms or will rent you 2 rooms. We really prefer to all stay in one room, even if it busts the budget. Thanks!

The Hotel Royal is nothing fancy, but they do offer %26quot;four-bedded rooms for families...%26quot; which sounds like what you need. They are a short walk (1/2 block-ish) from the main train station on Schiller Str. They offer free traditional breakfast and the desk staff are friendly and helpful.

My husband %26amp; I stayed there last August (2005) and we had a great time. Again, just remember it%26#39;s no frills!

Check out Munich Park Hilton. The room I had on the exec floor during my stay in April appeared to be an adjoining room -- so if money is no object, get 2 rooms. Hotel is very nice, though not particularly convenient to public transportation. Might check with Hotel Uhland. We stayed there in Nov with our 2 kids in their family room. 2 queen beds in our room (#15). I don%26#39;t think there was room for a rollaway bed for a 5th person.

The Hotel Englischer Garten has apartments very reasonably priced you might want to try.

In the Four Poins Hotel Central the have rooms with two king size beds. Its not a problem to stay in these rooms with 5 people. Its a 3 star hotel only one stop from central station. So you can walk to Karlsplatz (Stachus) within 10 min. And its not very expensive.

My wife and I travelled to Munich several times with 3 children. You are correct, it%26#39;s a little difficult finding accomodations for a family of 5.

We stayed most recently at a hotel called Hotel Exquisit, near Sendlinger Tor, a very pleasant 10 minute walk from the Marienplatz. The subway entrance is a block from the hotel door. This hotel was excellent, and the breakfast was fabulous. They do have family suites with two interconnected rooms, and as a bonus you get a second bathroom. The kids keep asking if we can go back there. Check out the reviews on TripAdvisor. The hotel is within walking distance of the main train station and is family friendly (no %26quot;racy%26quot; shops or bars in the hotel vicinity).

A few years ago we found another place with accomodation for 5 called Hotel Muller, also in the Sendlinger Tor area. This was a room for four with an extra roll out bed. It was a very good hotel with a good breakfast and a nice staff. This particular hotel is not reviewed (yet) on trip advisor.

You%26#39;ll find that taxi drivers will not take a group of 5 - 4 is the limit. Not a problem since the public transit is excellent (and inexpensive). If you do requre a taxi ask the hotel to call for a van (it will be a minivan). My kids were just about the ages of your children when we made our first trip to Munich. They thought it was a great adventure and especially enjoyed the day tour to Neuschwanstein (sp?) Castle and Schloss Linderhof. We have been back to Munich several times.

Good luck!
