Getting from Munich to St Anton im Arlberg by train?

I am flying into Munich and need to get from the airport to St Anton im Arlberg (in Austria) in March. I suppose train will be the best way, but I cant seem to get it right on the die bahn website. Does anyone know how to organise this, how long the journey will take and how much it will cost? Should I go via Innsbruck or another way? Any advice greatly appreciated!

dougb328, are you sure there´s a train service desk at Munich airport? I´ve only seen ticket machines and no Bahn ticket counter. And I´m not sure whether you can buy international train tickets at ticket machines.

Last time I was there, April 2004, there was a train service desk in the airport lower level, next to the elevators down to S-Bahn platform. I honestly do not remember if it was a DB or just an MVV desk.

Tickets to stations abroad the DB timetable knows the prices for can be bought normally from the DB ticket machines.

As OP is only travelling in March there is still enough time to buy the ticket online through the DB timetable. Shipping is free.

Seems there´s a Bahn ticket counter

Sorry for causing some confusion, but I can´t remember seeing one.

There is a DB counter in the central building near Terminal 1. If you arrive at Terminal 2 you usually won%26#39;t see the counter as you go down to the platform from the other entrance.

Should one buy a ticket before they get to Munich or just buy one when they fly in?

Buy one one they fly in.

There is no advantage in buying early.

There are cheaper fares available from Munich to St Anton by booking in advance, although they are tied to specific trains.

Use the bahn.de website and look at the times and fares. There are 2 main routes - via Innsbruck or via Lindau and Bregenz which is usually a bit slower.

If you use book by post then DB are very fast at sending tickets. I have ordered them on Monday afternoon and reeceived them in the UK on Wednesday morning.

The journey is about 3 - 4 hours and the connections in Innsbruck are generally fairly poor with some longish waits.

If you don%26#39;t book in advance then there is a ticket desk at the airport.

For a cheaper but slower journey using local trains in Germany you could use a Bayern ticket to get to the Austrian border and then rebook from there online with oebb.at and printing the ticket out.
