Does anybody know the rough cost of taking a train from frankfurt main station to berlin? I have checked out the idea of the schones Wochende card and it%26#39;s too restrictive... anyone know what you should expect to pay for a return trip on the train midweek? Going on a thursday back the dollowing tuesday?

If you book early enough you can get a SparPreis 25 or even 50, meaning a discount of 25 or 50% on the standard price. It%26#39;s only valid for a certain train, not refundable and not really changeable - and sells out very quick. Try to book as soon as possible from www.bahn.de

(btw. do you really go from the main station or from the airport?)

If you plan to travel between 13. Jan and 28. Feb. you may also get one of the 800.000 Winter Special Tickets. One way from EUR 29,00.

Thanks for the replies. I%26#39;m actually not travelling until the summer time.. but since we are looking at Germany as our holiday destination I am comparing the costs of a few alternatives... We definitely will fly to Frankfurt Hahn ... after that I%26#39;m not so sure... maybe 5 or 6 days in Berlin with a couple of days in Frankfurt or maybe we%26#39;ll change our minds completely and go back to Heidelberg or Bamberg... there are so many choices.

OK; so you are flying to Hahn. NOT to Frankfurt. The difference is about 100 km or almost 1 3/4 hours on the shuttle bus.

Hahn airport is located very close to the Mosel valley, so it might be interesting for you to stay put there for a day or two before going on.

I%26#39;m well aware of where Hahn is located! I will based in Frankfurt for a few days at a conference and it from there that we will be %26quot;starting%26quot; our holiday plans!

I still don%26#39;t know what I should expect to pay for a standard adult ticket (return) from Frankfurt Hauptbahnof to Berlin Hauptbahnof... Does anyone have any idea?

Deutsche Bahn is (thank heavens) not an airline - the %26quot;normal%26quot; prices today are exactly the same as the %26quot;normal prices%26quot; in half a year. Midweek, weekend, night... whatever.

But the prices depend on the route you take and the train you choose (ICE or IC or locals) and vary between 90 and 105 Euro one way.
