Hotel Lumen am Hauptbahnhof

Would anyone familiar or local to Hamburg be able to offer any advice on this hotel, please?

A group of 5 of us are planning on visiting Hamburg in early June and would appreciate any helpful advice on where to stay, central preferred. Whilst we wouldn%26#39;t be looking for hostel accomodation, we don%26#39;t need 5 star either.. ;-)

Many thanks in advance. Vielen danke!

Paul.

I don%26#39;t know anything about this hotel but from the reviews here it seems that you%26#39;d better stay somewhere else, more centrally located. Some options? The Renaissance or the Radisson SAS sometimes offer great values. Check also the Steigenberger, the Sofitel and the Elysee.

Have a nice stay in Hamburg!!!

Greece4ever ... thanks for your kind reply. You mention the %26quot;reviews here%26quot;... are they on the internet? if so, do you have a link, please?

I%26#39;ve tried seaching Tripadvisor for reviews of this hotel but could not find any...

Cheers... :-)

Hi Plingy63,

as I live here I can supply you some hotels. What is your budget?

The hotels greece4ever mentioned are truly nice but to some extend truly expensive too.

Do you need a hotel, or how about a condo sort of thing near the river Elbe next to the Reeperbahn (Entertainment + Red light District).

It´s about the same as the hotels already mentioned but they have a kitchen a bed room and living room with a plasma screen you can turn into any room (not that you need that as you want to see Hamburg)

Google for Clipper Elb-Lodge Hamburg as I am not sure if I am supposed to add a link.

Any questions, shout!

One thing I forgot. The Hauptbahnhof (Main Train station) is not the best area to stay at. The police is a frequent visistor in that area, to say the least.

Hi you could try the hotel Norddeutscher hof, it%26#39;s not far from the main railway station and although people say that the area is unsafe we stayed here with our children and there was no trouble at all.

You also get a good breakfast all you can eat.

Hope this helps

Worth having a look at the Junges Hotel - about ten minutes from the main station. Very comfortable, good food and reasonably priced. Stayed there in November 06 and would definitely go back
