Football in Leverkusen

We have been drawn v Leverkusen in the UEFA Cup. I have heard Leverkusen is not a great place to stay and Cologne is much better, How far is Leverkusen from Cologne and is it easy to get back to from Leverkusen by train

Hi,

My hubby %26amp; I have just got back to the UK after spending a couple of days in Cologne @ the xmas markets.

We took the train (we flew into Dusseldorf) %26amp; I remember it stopped at Leverkusen, It was only a couple of stops from Cologne %26amp; probably took about 10 minutes.

Hope that helps

Have a great time!!

There are frequent trains, travel time is about 20 minutes.

One of the replies mentioned about getting from Cologne to Leverkusen. She mentioned that she flew into Dusseldorf. How did she get from Dusseldorf to Leverkusen? Did she had to get a train to Cologne and then on from there? Can you let us know.

Leverkusen is between Cologne and Düsseldorf.

DB timetable

http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/e

From: CGN

From: DUS

To: Leverkusen Mitte

Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) to Leverkusen is 22 min.

Single ticket is EUR 4,10.

Cologne/Bonn Airport (CGN) to Leverkusen 37-52 min.

Single ticket is EUR 3,20.

For the main railway stations you can use

From: K

From: D

To: Leverkusen Mitte

Travel time is roughly the same from Cologne (Köln) or Düsseldorf.

Ticket prices are the same (these are zone-to-zone tickets).

Travel on the match day from Cologne to the stadium and back should be included with the match ticket. But not from Düsseldorf.

Cologne and Leverkusen are inside the same local public transport network VRS.

While Düsseldorf is already in the VRR (a different network).

Hi SophieBlackburn,

You asked about how I got from Dusseldorf to Leverkusen

I flew into Dusseldorf from Leeds Bradford, On a cheap Jet2 flight which cost me %26amp; hubby £41 each return, we then got the Sky train that is situated in the airport building %26amp; is free - to the railway station just outside the airport.

When we had worked out how to use the Ticket machine (rather complicated if you dont know how!!) We got our tickets %26amp; took the train to Cologne as we were staying there for a couple of days whilst the xmas markets were on (Highly recommended)

We did not stay in Leverkusen but I do remember that the Dusseldorf - Koln train stopped at this station.

Hope that helps in some way!!

Many thanks for the information. It is much appreciated and will prove very helpful.

We will let you know how we go on - travelling mid-February.

Hi there! I too plan to go to this very game when Blackburn play Leverkusen. I will fly to COLOGNE BONN airport and fly back from DUSSELDORF - WEEZE (Ryan Air). The questions I have:

Firstly - How do you get from Cologne Airport to Leverkusen / Cologne city centre?

Secondly - How do you get from Leverkusen (or Cologne for that matter ) to DUSSELDORF WEEZE airport? I heard there are shuttle buses, but where are the pick up points for these in Cologne %26amp; LEverkusen, and how much are they (one way to Weeze Airport)?

|||

%26gt; Firstly - How do you get from Cologne Airport to Leverkusen / Cologne city centre?

Was actually already answered before:

DB timetable

http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/e

From: CGN

To: Leverkusen Mitte

To: Cologne

%26gt; Secondly - How do you get from Leverkusen (or Cologne for that matter ) to DUSSELDORF WEEZE airport?

You can also use trains + bus.

To: Weeze Flughafen

If not traveling alone this is the cheaper method. Buy a SchönerTagTicket NRW (HappyDayTicket NRW) - a mini group (2-5 persons) day ticket covering all local public transport in the state North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW).

The (mini) buses from Weeze or Kevelaer to Weeze airport run only on request. You have to call the number shown by the timetable for them (-%26gt; details). Not sure if these buses are (fully) covered by the SchönerTagTicket NRW.

There are also (private) shuttle buses from Cologne or Düsseldorf to Weeze airport.

Can anyone tell me if there are facilities to leave luggage at either Leverkusen Mitte or Koln station?

|||

Leverkusen Mitte has no luggage lockers.

Cologne (Köln) Hauptbahnhof (main railway station) has a quite interesting automatic luggage storage system.
