Yes. But keep in mind that the Bayern Ticket is on weekdays only valid past 9am. And that you can only use the RE or RB trains from Munich to Salzburg.

Fussen to Salzburg,

I am a regular visitor to Fussen and yes you can get to Salsburg from Fussen. Take a Taxi from Fussen to Vils Bahnhof in Austria, just 2 Km from Fusen. Get the OBB Austria Railway train to Garmish-Partenkirchen (1.Hour) then change there to German DB.Bahn to Salsburg ~ It%26#39;s a spectacular Rail Trip.

Hi Fototrax: About how many hours is that trip from the Garmish to Salzburg leg? Thanks.

Of course you can do the zig zag course through Bavaria and Austria as Fotottrax suggested - it is a full day trip. But you will still have to go through Munich or Innsbruck.

The easiest way is a direct train from Füssen to Munich and then from Munich to Salzburg. It is of course much less scenic than the detours suggested by Fototrax, but also much faster. Depends on what you actually prefer.

There are various routes from Vils to Salzburg

Vils - Garmisch - Munich - Salzburg (guess this was the suggested one)

Vils - Garmisch - Innsbruck - Salzburg

Vils - Kempten - Munich - Salzburg

If you stick to local train, the 1st and 3rd one are covered by the Bavaria Ticket. The Ausserfernbahn (Kempten - Vils - Garmisch) is covered by the Bavaria Ticket, albeit part of it goes through Austria. But this railroad is not connected directly to any other Austrian railroad.

Fototrax gave an interesting route from Fussen to Salzburg, so I guess it would work to Innsbruck. I had thought I needed to backtrack to München-Pasing and take a train via Garmisch and Mittenwald - mainly for the scenery.

How far is it to Vils from Fussen?

Distance centre to centre is approx. 10 km.

There are some buses, but not many.

Taxi should be around EUR 15-20.

Thanks for your reply. Checked the train details, but other than what appear to be holidays, this train only runs at the weekend.
