As part of our Germany/Austria (May 07) trip my wife and I plan a stop in Bamberg. We plan to arrive around noon and spend all of that day and the next in and around Bamberg before departing on day 3. Is this too much or too little time for the Bamberg area? Any suggestions on things to see or do?

I was just there for the day in November and had a great time...walked around, ate at the resturant that is famous for smoked beer, walked up to the castle and beautiful cathedral...I would think a day or so would be enough...if you have more time then you can just relax...so many wonderful little towns very short distances so I guess if you are driving you can always head out if you have had enough.
