Berlin has no real single centre. It%26#39;s a huge and widespread city.

nightlife -%26gt; e.g. Prenzlauer Berg

sights -%26gt; Mitte

Hi cez,

Check inside page on neighbourhoods in order to find out which area suits you best:

I agree that Berlin lacks a city centre- nevertheless in Mitte, in the area around Hackescher Markt and Oranienburger Strasse you find everything which is important for a short city break: lots of bars, some nighlife and cool shopping on your doorstep; at the same time you have all important sights in walking distance, Museum Island is a short walk over the bridge. Some people think, this area is too touristy - I personally believe, it is simply a very lively and mixed area, of course there are also tourists, but they don%26#39;t bother you. Check Arcotel Velvet, Hotel Märkischer Hof, and Hotel Augustinenhof, those places have the most perfect location:

Have a great time in yor central Berlin location!

As mentioned before Berlin hasn%26#39;t really got a city centre like other cities do. The city centre is quite widespread.

Most sights are found in Mitte but you could stay anywhere in Central Berlin as Berlins public transport is pretty good and it never takes you long getting anywhere. Apart from Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg you could also check out Charlottenburg, Kreuzberg or Schöneberg.

Taking into account your age, and not being funny here, you may want to consider city west (charlottenberg) from where it is not awfully far to visit the sights, but definately quieter during the early hours !! Berlin is a 24 hour city, and you would have fun visiting the busier more touristy Oranienberger str, Hakeschke Hoefe etc without actually wanting to get your head down there!!

I would stay at Circus Hostel on the border of Prenzlauer Berg and Mitte - Rosenthaler Platz.

The hostel has single (non-dorm) rooms, is stylish and in the middle of real life. Next to Kastanienallee, a street many Berliners spend their time, Hackescher Markt is close by as well.

More up-market is Gendarmenmarkt.

I%26#39;d say don%26#39;t go the west! I am a Westener and used to live there. Nowadays loads of Russians and Ukranians there.
